Rites of Spring

Every year we travel to Montgomery and Heath plays in the "Rites of Spring" Member-Guest tournament at MCC with his cousin Britton. It is a wonderful weekend filled with parties and family fun. We look forward to it every year. Here are the boys after two long days of golf (some of them are still on the course so not pictured :))

Barnes and Pollard together again, best friends...

Heath and I before the party Saturday night, and before the Mechanical Bull, yes I said bull. They had a western theme at the adult party this year and let me tell you.. after the margaritas and Lynchburg Lemonade they served... HYSTERICAL!

The TEAM!!! They played well the first day but after a big Saturday night and early tee time they didn't finish quite as strong.. they still had fun and did what they do best.. make people laugh!

Heath, myself, Lindsey and Britton on Friday, "Family Night"

The rain didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves!

David, future soccer player and big brother here very soon :) I am so sad I don't have a pic of Jess and Matthew! Jess looks great and we can't wait to meet Baby #2!

Some Miscallaneous Pics

Mary Clark's new toy; she has just discovered this on her bouncy seat. I hear it rattle every now and then and find her grinning.. melt my heart.

Getting a bath, she really enjoys this these days!

Playing with her new friend, we need to name him...

Snoozing in her tiger onesie....

Her first bow...

To match her bloomers...

Henry and Heath cooking out... this is a "framer" for my desk when I head back to work in late May.

Mary Clark and her "Mae Mae", Heath's mom.

A week of projects and some fun

This week we did a variety of things:

-painted the entry way and hallway in the house... this turned out to be a bigger job than I thought but we are enjoying the brighter color we chose. I started Tuesday and finally finished Saturday morning.

-our awesome lawn crew got the yard looking better and most importantly collected all the sweet gum balls that decorate our yard! Of course some of them are already back :)

-and my azaelas are blooming.. just waiting on my hydrangeas!

-Gigi (Heath’s Grandmother) and Pa Pa (Heath’s dad who I still can’t believe wants to be called Paw Paw… he seems more like a “Grandfather or Gradaddy” to me) came for a visit. We went to Nabeels for lunch to have Pa Pa’s favorite chicken salad, then we strolled around Brookwood and enjoyed the beautiful day

-On Thursday Mary Clark was 6
weeks! And we celebrated our 4th anniversary. We had dinner at Highlands while Nana and Pee Pie kept MC. We started with Highland Martinis, Stone Ground Baked Grits and Spring Vegetable Soup. Then Heath had North Carolina Poulet Rouge (young hen) and I had the Flounder… it was all of course AMAZING! We skipped dessert there and had the cherry pie my parents brought over instead.

-went for several long walks around the neighborhood with Henry (who is getting so good about walking right next to the “Bob”) Henry is excited it’s what we call “Sprinkler Season”. He is notorious for putting his entire mouth around the sprinkler head, it’s hysterical.

-On Friday Henry got his spring haircut… he looks a little like a poodle but he sure will be much cooler now on our long walks. He always looks precious to me.

-Over the weekend we just relaxed and watched the Masters… Mary Clark seems to really love golf like her Daddy :)

Easter Weekend (4 of 4) - Old Friends

Lastly we went over to my dear friend Christopher's NEW home to have a fabulous steak dinner. He of course had wonderful appetizers and fresh veggies to go with the steak. We also had fresh strawberries, blackberries and vanilla bean ice cream for dessert.. so yummy! I should have taken pics! We also drank a great bottle of wine that I'd given Christopher for graduation about 5 or 6 years ago.. it was perfect! Thanks for a wonderful dinner CDS, your new home is AMAZING. We are so happy for you!

Easter Weekend (3 of 4) - Family Fun

Then we were off to Riverchase for lunch. I was so excited about this as I have spent every Easter of my life having lunch there and now Mary Clark would spend her first there as well! The flowers were beautiful and the food so yummy. We missed the Easter Bunny, he left right as we were finished eating so I was a little disappointed I didn't get to take Mary Clark's picture with him. For sure next year though! Her Uncle Dewayne did get to hold her for the first time which was a fun event. Poor Dewayne broke BOTH of his wrists and hip just before she was born so he was not able to hold her initially. Caitlin and Dewayne will be wonderful parents one day!

We then went to my parents house, just 2 minutes down the street and Mary Clark got her first Easter Basket! It was filled with cute outfits, candy, a precious book that played music and a huge bunny bigger than her! Thanks Nana and Aunt Caitlin for her first basket.. Oh, and Mom's patio looked gorgeous as usual, I took a couple shots of that. Her gazillion azaleas were not blooming yet though, they are my favorite.. probably in a week or so they'll show their face!

Sorry the pics are out of order.. still learning!

Easter Weekend (2 of 4) - The Real Meaning

As I was trying on Mary Clark's Easter outfit earlier in the week I tried to explain to her the real meaning of Easter. Now I know she cannot understand but eventually she will. I told her that for the first 5 to 10 years of her life it would seem mostly about bunnies and eggs but that the true reason we celebrate was Jesus' Resurrection. I told her about the new life He gave us and that this time of year brings new life to God's beautiful earth. The trees and grass become green again and the flowers bloom. It is truly a wonderful time year and my favorite holiday.

Sunday morning we attended the 11am service at our church Trinity United Methodist. The music, flowers and message were all wonderful. I included a few shots. Mary Clark slept in my arms the entire time and barely made a peep!

Easter Weekend 2010 (1 of 4) - A Fun Saturday

We had a wonderful Easter weekend, very busy and filled with family and friends.

We started by attending Miss Ellie Prewett's birthday party. It was gorgeous Saturday and Mary Clark loved being outside. She was such an angel and barely fussed at all. She was awake almost the whole time! Miss Ellie had a great party and was adorable as usual. Her favorite thing to do when she sees Mary Clark is take her little hand and say "Hooray Baby!", she will be a wonderful big sister here in a few weeks! Thanks to the Prewetts and Moores for a great afternoon.
